 Wolfgang Amadeus Mozart

Wolfgang Amadeus Mozart was a composer in the classical period.

Mozart was born in Austria in 1756. Mozart was a child prodigy and was already playing in royal courts at age 6 and had composed pieces by age 5. He spent a lot of his childhood traveling around Europe playing in noble and royal courts. As a result, he learned to speak over 15 languages. Mozart spent his whole life making a living from his compositions and often felt enormous pressure to compose. He was often sick and this impeded him in his writing. Mozart died very young at the age of 35 from a persistent illness. There have been rumors that he was poisoned but there is no evidence that this is true. Here are a few more fun facts about Mozart:

  • He loved animals and had a dog named Bimperl.

  • His favorite food was liver and dumplings.

  • He was scared of ghosts and loud noises.
